Post Office 'failings' over cash shortfall probes

The Post Office has been criticised in an independent report which examined complaints from sub-postmasters who said the had been unfairly sacked or prosecuted over cash shortfalls at their branches.

The report, carried out by a team of forensic accountants, found that in many cases the Post Office failed to identify the root cause of the shortfalls before launching court proceedings against their staff.

The Post Office disputes the report's conclusions.

Andy Verity reports.
