The impact of air strikes against Islamic State

David Cameron has said he will take his case to parliament to extend air strikes by the UK from Iraq into Syria.

A US-led coalition has been carrying out air strikes against Islamic State militants in both countries for over a year and Russia's military is also now involved.

The BBC's World Affairs Editor John Simpson has been looking at the impact of air strikes in the fight against IS - and what effect Britain's increased involvement might have.
