Trump accused Michael Sandford 'relieved' at sentence

A British man who was accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump has been sentenced to twelve months and one day in a court in Las Vegas.

Twenty-year-old Michael Sandford, who is autistic, attempted to snatch a policeman's gun at rally for Mr Trump in June.

He pleaded guilty in September to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and disrupting an official function.

Speaking to the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire, Michael's mother Lynne spoke of her son's gratitude at the compassion shown by the judge, who wished him "good luck" as he rose to leave the court room.
