Daily Mail writer Sarah Vine defends 'Legs-it' column

The writer of a Daily Mail column which pictured Theresa May and Nicola Sturgeon and the headline "who won Legs-it?" has defended her column.

Politicians and members of the public have scorned the paper and accused it of sexism for focusing on the prime minister and Scotland first minister's legs.

But speaking to BBC Radio 4's World at One, Sarah Vine said she thought people might have had "a sense of humour failure".

She said she was creating a "more approachable version" of the story by commenting on the photo.
