Cameron confronted over Battle of Britain error

David Cameron has admitted he slipped up when he got his history wrong by suggesting the US were fighting alongside Britain during WWII in 1940.

In an interview with Sky News last month he said, "The fact is that we are a very effective partner of the US, but we are the junior partner.''

He went on to say ''We were the junior partner in 1940 when we were fighting the Nazis.''

He was confronted about the error during a question and answer session with members of the public in Hove, East Sussex.
