Cross Inn pub at Staplecross saved by whip round

Residents of an East Sussex village have pledged £300,000 to save their pub, which has been run by same family for nearly 60 years.

The Cross Inn at Staplecross, near Robertsbridge, was to have been sold and may have been turned into a restaurant after the previous owner died.

But the village rallied round and landlady Molly Monk, who has been behind the bar for 26 years, is to stay on.
