Labour claims Norwich City Council victory

Labour has claimed overall control in Norwich and power from the Conservatives in Great Yarmouth following the local elections.

Labour won two seats from the Tories and a single one from the Lib Dems to gain control of Norwich City Council.

Councillor Brenda Arthur, leader of the council, said she was "absolutely delighted" but "humbled the people of Norwich have come out in numbers to vote for us".

The number of people voting in Norwich was 35% of those eligible to do so.
