Track train cuts disruption during rail repairs

Network Rail has a new way of replacing old or damaged track which minimises disruption for trains and travellers.

A special train travels along the track, ripping it up and relaying it as it goes along.

At the moment large sections of track are being replaced on the West Coast mainline south of Milton Keynes and along the East Coast mainline between Peterborough and Hitchin.

Stuart Ratcliffe has been given exclusive access to the train as it replaced track near Peterborough.
