Older drivers 'no more dangerous than other road users'
Research has found drivers over 70 are involved in fewer accidents than younger drivers.
One of the reasons given by road safety experts is that older drivers self-regulate, so will not put themselves at risk by driving at night, or at busy times.
The figures, released by the DVLA, also show more than 4.5 million of the 39 million people with valid driving licences are aged over 70.
