Drug smuggler George Evans's wife claims innocence

A woman jailed for money laundering for her drug smuggler husband insisted they had lived separate lives and she is innocent.

Anne Evans, 55, of High Road, Beeston, Bedfordshire, has begun an 18-month sentence after a jury decided she must have known her husband had been smuggling cocaine.

He is serving an 18-year sentence for conspiracy to supply cocaine woth £1m.

Before she was jailed she said George Evans, 76, was a dominant, secretive and abusive husband and she knew nothing about his criminal activity.
