Grants offered to get Gosport empty shops back into use

Renewed efforts are being made to revitalise the high street in a Hampshire town by getting empty shops back into use.

Retailers in Gosport are being offered grants of up to £7,000 to tempt them into setting up in the town centre.

The Empty Unit Support Scheme aims to bring five units back into use in the High Street, North Cross Street and Bemisters Lane.

So far there have been four expressions of interest in the project, which is run by Gosport Borough Council and the Town Team.
