Street dancers take to the stage in Birmingham

Amateur street dancers from the Midlands have been given the chance to take to the stage alongside professional performers as part of Birmingham's International Dance Festival.

The hip-hop crews will perform at the Breakin' Convention show at Birmingham Hippodrome on Monday 14 May and on the following evening.

One of the event organisers, Jonzi D, believes the local dancers are key to the event because "they represent the community".

He said: "These guys are going to be the future greats and rather than ignore that, let's try and give them a platform from as early as possible."
