Kingsley Burrell's death 'contributed to by police restraint'

Excessive police force and a failure to provide basic medical attention contributed to the death of a student who was detained under mental health laws, an inquest jury has ruled.

Kingsley Burrell died after being detained in March 2011 when West Midlands Police attended a disturbance in Birmingham.

His sister Kadisha Brown-Burrell said outside court "it's been heart-wrenching for the last four years".

Spokesman for the family Desmond Jaddoo said: "We call into question the systemic failure of the services involved".
