Birmingham refuse workers walk out amid job loss fears

Refuse workers in Birmingham are striking on Friday in a dispute about job losses.

The posts of more than 120 waste collectors are under threat amid council plans to reorganise the operation, the Unite union says.

The service, according to the local authority, is outdated and inefficient.

Unite members are planning further action in the summer.
