UKIP Bristol chairman says the party 'is here to stay'

In Bristol it was a bad night for the Liberal Democrats who lost seats to all other parties, ending the night with seven fewer councillors.

Labour gained three, to reinforce their position as the largest party in the chamber. But there were also two gains for the Greens, while UKIP won their first ever seat on the city council.

UKIP chairman in Bristol, Steve Wood, said his party was "here to stay".
