Vulnerable children need better 'early support systems'

Better "early support services" are needed for vulnerable children, Action for Children has said.

Carol Iddon, director of the charity's children's services, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that if problems were not tackled at an early stage they were more likely to become "critical".

Her comments come after children's services in Coventry - in the spotlight since four-year-old Daniel Pelka's death - have been branded "inadequate" by Ofsted.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 21 March.
