Carlisle pupils welcome cycling champ Bradley Wiggins

Pupils from Newtown Community School in Carlisle prepare to give Olympic medallist Bradley Wiggins a familiar welcome for the fourth leg of the Tour of Britain road race.

Children, some of whom will ride ahead of teams before the start, are donning stick-on sideburns in honour of the four-time gold medallist.

Seventeen Carlisle schools have been assigned to support each of the teams taking part, with Newtown backing Wiggins' Sky Pro Cycling team.

The Cumbrian leg of the race also takes in Shap, Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale, before moving into Lancashire, ending in Blackpool.
