Nottinghamshire Police defends its burglary reporting

Nottinghamshire Police has defended its reporting of burglaries following a critical report by a police watchdog.

The October report by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary said there was "evidence of under-recording" of burglaries by the force.

The force was asked to look at all crimes that were initially logged as burglaries but were later downgraded between April and September 2011.

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Broadbent said the force's reporting was "totally accurate".
