Cyclist hit by level crossing barrier in Spondon

Footage of a cyclist being hit by a level crossing barrier in Derbyshire has been released in a bid to stop people taking unnecessary risks.

British Transport Police said most level crossing offences involved motorists, but they wanted to alert pedestrians and cyclists to the dangers too.

The footage is being shown as part of a safety awareness week at schools and colleges near level crossings.

The cyclist was not hurt in the incident, British Transport Police said.
