South Dorset MP calls for fairer funding for police forces

South Dorset MP Richard Drax has called for a fairer share of funding for the county's police force during a debate in Westminster.

Police forces in other parts of the country receive about 70% of their funding from central government and 30% from council tax.

Dorset Police receives about 54% of its funding from the government and 46% from council tax.

The Home Office has said it will review the way it calculates funding for police forces.
