The difficulty of creating meadows

Queen Victoria's Osborne House on the Isle of Wight has been chosen as part of a Coronation campaign to restore threatened wildflower meadows, which have decreased by 97% in the UK since the 1930s.

But at other sites across the water in Hampshire, work to transform areas into meadows has proved difficult.

In Southampton, a plan to convert an old boating lake into a wildlife haven has been met with local opposition.
