Friends' campaign to bring sick Thai holidaymaker home

The friends of a Kent man who fell ill while on holiday in Thailand say he could die if they do not raise enough money for his treatment.

Gareth Harnett, from Thanet, did not have travel insurance when he travelled to Phuket.

His friends say his treatment following a heart attack is costing £2,000 per day.

Malcolm Tarling, from the Association of British Insurers, said: "If you fall ill abroad you can be faced with some quite horrendous medical costs."
