Leicester charity aims to tackle empty homes crisis

An East Midlands charity is one of many organisations looking to reduce the number of empty homes after it was revealed the region has one of the highest rates of unused properties in the country.

More than 20,000 properties in the region have been empty for more than six months, while more than 62,000 households in the region are on the housing waiting list.

The BBC spoke to Leicester Empty Homes and local authorities about what it is doing to tackle the problem.

Inside Out is on BBC One in the East Midlands on Monday 20 March at 19:30 GMT.
