Londoner to competes Calcio Storico Fiorentino league

An ex-boxer from north-west London is taking part in the final of an ancient Italian game.

James Zikic travelled to Italy to take part in the Calcio Storico Fiorentino league after learning about the history of the sport, which some claim is an ancestor of modern football.

He will now compete in the final of the competition on Monday.

The sport, which is played only in Florence, is a mixture of rugby, football and wrestling, and games can often turn violent.

BBC London's Charlotte Franks spoke to player James Zikic and his team captain, Marino Veeri.
