Appeal for tennis fans to donate to Wimbledon spire

A church which forms the backdrop to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships is in urgent need of money to restore its spire.

Designed by the eminent architect Sir Gilbert Scott, St Mary's Church spire needs more than £100,000 spent on it.

Reverend Mary Bide blamed some of the damage on parakeets.

Church warden John Bush appealed to visitors and locals to donate.
