Tower Hamlets election count 'poorly organised'

The election watchdog has described procedures at the vote counting for the local and European elections in Tower Hamlets as "inadequately resourced and poorly organised".

A review by the Electoral Commission recommended a number of changes in order to restore voter confidence.

Tower Hamlets council said it had learned lessons and welcomed the commission's report.

BBC London's political correspondent Karl Mercer spoke to Jenny Watson, chair of the Electoral Commission, Conservative councillor Peter Golds, Rushanara Ali, Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and John Williams who is Tower Hamlets' returning officer.
