Consultation for new Thames road bridge

A consultation will begin on Monday for a new road bridge across the River Thames in east London.

The campaign for the bridge, which would connect Thamesmead to Beckton, is headed by the London Chamber of Commerce, who claim it would bring huge benefits to the area.

The proposal comes six years after London Mayor Boris Johnson scrapped the idea.

Labour say they would go ahead with the new bridge.

BBC London political editor Tim Donovan spoke to Kat Hanna from London Chamber of Commerce, former Labour Transport Secretary Lord Adonis, Joanna Lumley, London Assembly Conservative Member Gareth Bacon and Michelle Dix from Transport for London.
