Four year delay and £1bn increase to London Underground improvements

A move to modernise the District, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines will take four years longer and will cost 30% more than originally promised.

The £5.5bn plan, announced by Transport for London on Tuesday, is set to finish in 2022 and aims to make the services more regular.

BBC London's transport correspondent Tom Edwards said Tube fares will continue to rise to pay for the changes.

He spoke to managing director of London Underground, Mike Brown, London Assembly member Val Shawcross and Finn Brennan at the Aslef union.
