Last Post tribute paid to WW2 POW bugler Arthur Lane

Buglers have played the Last Post at the funeral of a former Japanese prisoner of war who marked the deaths of his fellow captives with the same tribute during World War Two.

Arthur Lane, 94, played the piece for prisoners who died while building the Burma-Thailand Railway.

Mr Lane, from Stockport, performed it more than 200 times in three-and-a-half years.

Mike Greaves and his son Colin came forward to perform the tribute to the former soldier after an appeal by Mr Lane's family on BBC Radio Manchester.
