Newark awarded £3.5m Lottery grant for Civil War museum

A Nottinghamshire town has been awarded £3.5m from the Heritage Lottery Fund to create a national Civil War museum.

It will be housed in Newark's Magnus buildings, parts of which date back to 1529.

The project will cost a total of £5.4m and is expected to open in September 2014.
