New memorial for Lancaster bomber crew

The oldest surviving RAF war veteran in Nottinghamshire has paid tribute to seven servicemen who died after their plane crashed in the county.

The Lancaster bomber came down during a training flight in 1943, near the village of Halam.

Nottinghamshire County Council has set up a new memorial to commemorate their lives.

Jim Flint, 99, flew 56 missions and won the George Cross, he said he was delighted with the tribute to his friends.

Geeta Pendse reports.
