Government funding settlement: Cuts bite in Oxfordshire

As councils hear their future funding settlements from government on Thursday, cuts are continuing to bite across Oxfordshire.

The county council has blamed rising demand for social services for another £20m in savings.

The authority said it was spending about half of its total budget on about 2% of the population in adult and children's care costs.

BBC Oxford's political reporter Helen Catt said children's centres have also been in the firing line.
