London Midland gets train contract extended

The train company London Midland has been awarded an extension to its franchise.

The firm, which has struggled in recent years, will now continue running trains until March 2016.

London Midland drew strong criticism after it cancelled more than a thousand trains because of a shortage of drivers.

BBC Midlands Today's transport correspondent, Peter Plisner, spoke to commuters and Phil Davies from Travelwatch West Midlands and Geoff Inskip, the chief executive of Centro.
