Wrong way M6 Toll driver Frantisek Formanek jailed
A lorry driver has been jailed for drunkenly reversing among oncoming traffic on the M6 Toll in Staffordshire.
Motorists were forced to veer out of the way of Frantisek Formanek last month as he reversed south on the northbound carriageway for about 800 metres, crossing all three lanes.
Police have released the footage after Formanek was jailed at Stafford Crown Court for six months for dangerous driving and four months for drinking and driving - to run concurrently. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
The 56-year-old, from the Czech Republic, gave a breath sample of 93 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath; the legal limit is 35 micrograms. He pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing.
Ch Insp Jed White, of the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), said: "On this occasion this driver was clearly putting lives at risk, including his own."
