The Queen's low-key visits to Uckfield

The Queen paid many low-key visits to Uckfield, staying with Lord Neville of Horsted Place.

During her visits to East Sussex in the 1970s, she would always go to the local church where Canon Bill Peters was the preacher.

The village would only be alerted to her visit when the newsagent was asked to stock a copy of the Sporting Life.
