North England storms bring down trees and cause disruption

High winds have been battering the north of England with further strong winds and rain forecast.

Gusts reached more than 100mph on the Pennines and storms disrupted roads and railways.

The A1 was closed in County Durham when a caravan blew off a lorry and blocked the carriageway and a tree narrowly missed landing on a house in Low Fell, Gateshead.
