Ballymena: Shop worker prevents armed robbery with a splash

A shop assistant who prevented an armed robbery by throwing water over a would-be thief has been praised for her bravery.

Joan Wright was one of two shop workers who were confronted by a masked man holding a knife in the shop in Ballymena, County Antrim, on Tuesday.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Ms Wright throwing a jug of water at him after he demanded money from staff at Moorhead's Spar shop on Larne Road.

Speaking to the BBC, Ms Wright said, "I just thought it was a sensible thing to do at the time."
