Nick Clegg defends Lib Dem coalition decision

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg will defend his decision to go into government with the Conservatives today, at his party's annual conference in Liverpool.

He will tell the party faithful the Lib Dems would never have been taken seriously again, if they had passed up the chance to join the coalition.

But he is also expected to promise that his party will fight every seat at the next election, rather than enter a pact with the Tories.

Vicki Young reports.
