Alan Johnson: 'Government must think again' over cuts

Shadow Chancellor Alan Johnson has called for ''a slower pace of deficit reduction'' in his address ahead of the government's Spending Review.

He warned that ''going hell for leather on cuts'' ran the risk of higher unemployment and deprived communities and he urged the government to ''think again''.
