Spending review: Osborne cuts 4% from policing annually

George Osborne has unveiled the biggest UK spending cuts since World War II, with welfare, councils and police budgets all hit.

The Chancellor announced that spending on the police would fall by 4% a year until 2015.

He said protecting citizens was a primary duty of government but scope for savings had been identified.
