Osborne 'may have to rethink' spending cuts
The Chancellor George Osborne will spend the day defending the measures that will mean up to 500,000 jobs will go in the public sector.
On Wednesday he announced the biggest government spending cuts since the 1970s. The welfare budget was particularly hard hit with savings totalling £18 billion, and the state retirement age will rise to 66 for both men and women by 2020.
