Dr Stuart Wilks-Heeg, an expert on electoral politics, reckons the Conservatives would do better under the proposed boundary review, and that Labour is likely to lose some seats.

But he estimated the Tories probably would still not have won an overall majority in the 2010 general election if the new seats had been in place.
