Oldham MP Debbie Abrahams: Win is 'a clear message to government'

Debbie Abrahams has held the seat for Labour in the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election with an increased majority of more than 3,500.

She told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg the electorate had wanted ''to put a very clear message to this government'' and victory is ''the first step on a long journey''.

The Liberal Democrats came second and the Conservatives third.
