MPs should scrutinise public spending - Douglas Carswell MP

Conservative MP Douglas Carswell says MPs should be given a role in curbing government spending to hold departments and quangos to account and ensure cuts take place effectively.

Former CBI boss Lord Jones of Birmingham (better known as Digby Jones) who served as a trade minister in the last Labour government, said economic recovery will depend on the private sector making profits and paying taxes to help the UK economy.
