Police cuts a 'risk to public safety', says Yvette Cooper

The shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has criticised the cuts to police force funding, which she says will have a direct impact on front-line services and risk public safety.

Her comments came after the Chief Inspector of Constabulary, Sir Denis O'Connor, published a report warning that forces would struggle to implement cuts without losing front line officers.
