Coalition government support falls in UK over 12 months

Lord Adonis quoted Britain's former PM Benjamin Disraeli saying "England does not love coalitions" as he explained a poll showing less support for coalition government.

The peer, who has studied the coalition's first year in power, explained how some European countries have given a bigger portfolio to their deputy prime minister than Nick Clegg has.

A poll published by the Institute for Government found on the eve of the general election last year 55% of people thought coalitions were a bad thing, but that has now risen to 63%.

Lord Adonis also have his view on David Laws, a Lib Dem MP, who helped bring the coalition together, but has since been suspended from Parlaiment for a week.
