Energy Secretary Chris Huhne sets out UK carbon goals

Chris Huhne has set out plans to cut carbon emissions in half by 2027, compared to 1990 levels, and change the way Britain produces energy.

The energy secretary, who is at the centre of a storm over claims he asked someone to take speeding points for him, unveiled the UK's fourth "carbon budget" in the Commons.

He said the aim would be "to reduce emissions domestically as far as is practical and affordable" but that it was also the intention to "keep our carbon trading options open to maximise flexibility".
