Theresa May announces anti-extremism strategy update
Home Secretary Theresa May has said a government programme aimed at tackling extremism and terrorism often funded the organisations "it should have been confronting".
Speaking as she announced an update to the £63m-a-year Prevent strategy, she said the original policy "failed to tackle the extremist ideology that... inspires would-be terrorists".
She said that while the new strategy would address "all forms of terrorism, including the extreme right wing", the greatest threat remained al-Qaeda.
