Sex assault case against MP Andrew Bridgen dropped

Charges against Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen over allegations of sexual assault have been dropped, police have confirmed.

He was arrested last week after a 29-year-old woman made a complaint against him to police.

The MP for North West Leicestershire said in a statement he was angry that "such a ludicrous, false and unsubstantiated allegation" had received so much attention.

He said he would be taking further legal advice "about possible action against those responsible for making and publicising these falsehoods".
