Charities urge elderly care rethink

Charities have urged politicians to hold cross-party talks on reforming the care system for the elderly in England, ahead of a report into how people should pay to be looked after in their old age.

The Dilnot Commission will suggest on Monday that a price capping system could help prevent people selling their homes in order to afford treatment and care when they are old.
